Evaluating Wellcome Collection’s work with deaf audiences & collaborators

Since January 2026 I have collaborated with deaf art facilitator and architect Martin Glover on an evaluation for Wellcome Collection, focusing on the organisation’s efforts to expand its deaf-led programming and improve access for, and communications with deaf audiences, in the lead-up to the opening of the exhibitions 1880 THAT and Finger Talk.

We explored what a deaf-inclusive evaluation looks like, and the vital importance of including lived experience of deafness and deaf culture in the evaluation team, both for communication and trust-building, and as a critical lens.
