Research consultants: Touretteshero

In 2024 Tara Brown and I worked as consultants for Touretteshero, supporting their team to develop an anti-ableist research ethics policy. Together with Jess Thom and Will Renel at Touretteshero, we co-created accessible guidelines to help researchers, participants and collaborators do ethical, disabled-led research that aligns with the organisation’s values.

Touretteshero recognise that disabled people have often been excluded from leading research and have had their knowledge misused. In taking an anti-ableist approach, they aim to challenge normative approaches and create research that is more ambitious, safer, and that centres disabled people.
